18 August 2025, 12:05 Italy: FTSE MIB Starts Week on Cautious Note.
The FTSE MIB fell below the 42,600 mark in early trading on Monday, making a cautious start to the week ahead of US President Donald Trump's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and European leaders to map out a peace deal with Russia. This follows last Friday’s summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which ended without a breakthrough on a ceasefire. Investors will also closely watch Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's comments at the Jackson Hole meeting later this week to search for clues on the path of US interest rate cuts. On the corporate front, Buzzi Unicem (-2.0%), Tenaris (-1.6%), and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (-1.0%) were among the session’s early laggards.
