15 August 2025, 16:20 USA: Import Prices Rise the Most in 15 Months.
Prices of goods imported by the United States jumped by 0.4% from the previous month in July of 2025, contrasting sharply with market expectations that they would have remained unchanged, and rebounding form the revised 0.1% ease in June. It was the sharpest increase since April of last years, reflecting that foreign companies have not lowered their selling prices so far to accommodate for tariffs passed by the US Presidential administration. The index measuring import prices does not include tariffs on goods. Prices soared for fuel imports (2.7% vs 0.8% in June), while they rose at a softer pace for non-fuel imports (0.3% vs -0.3%). From the previous year, import prices were 0.2% lower.
