14 August 2025, 09:54  South Korea: KOSPI Inches Higher on Policy Roadmap, Shipbuilding Cooperation Talks.

The benchmark KOSPI edged up 0.04% to close at 3,225 on Thursday, reversing early losses as sentiment was supported by the release of President Lee Jae Myung’s five-year policy roadmap. The State Affairs Planning Committee outlined 123 initiatives across politics, the economy, foreign affairs, and society, detailing institutional reforms and growth strategies. Lee emphasized fostering national cohesion and driving innovative, balanced economic development to deliver inclusive benefits. Adding to the momentum, senior South Korean and US officials visited HD Hyundai’s Ulsan shipyard to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in shipbuilding ahead of a leaders’ summit. Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan said the government will establish a consultative body to back the initiative, with the goal of generating new opportunities for the nation’s shipbuilders. In the corporate sector, LG Energy Solution (1.67%), Hanwha Aerospace (1.14%), and Hyundai Motor (1.04%) led the charge.
