The Ibovespa fell 0.5% to around 137,000 on Wednesday as investors awaited the government’s package to mitigate the impact of the US 50% tariff on Brazilian products. On Tuesday, President Lula said the plan would include a R$30 billion credit line for exporters, with the total package reaching R$35 billion, including R$4 billion from the Treasury. Lula also sent Trump an invitation to the UN COP30 climate conference. Vale shares dropped over 3%, weighed by legal and financial concerns related to the 2015 Mariana dam disaster. The company recently completed Samarco’s judicial recovery, restructuring US$4.8 billion in debt to US$3.7 billion long-term without collateral, while still facing international lawsuits.
