13 August 2025, 15:56 USA: Stocks Set to Extend Records.
US stock futures pointed to a higher open on Wednesday, building from the record highs on the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 reached yesterday amid further support from expectations of rate cuts. Futures attached to the three main indices were around 0.3% higher. The relatively modest increase in goods prices revealed by yesterday's CPI report eased concerns that tariffs would rekindle sharp inflationary pressures in the US economy. This consolidated bets of a rate cut in the Federal Reserve's upcoming September meeting, as a group of FOMC members had hinted that tariff concerns had prevented the Fed from already restarting its loosening cycle. Sentiment was further lifted by President Donald Trump’s decision to extend a 90-day pause on tariffs for Chinese goods. Cava shares were set to open 25% down after posting weaker-than-expected Q2 revenue growth and lowering its full-year sales forecast, while CoreWeave fell 10% despite strong revenue gains as its latest results came in mixed.
