13 August 2025, 08:37  Jordan: Inflation Rate at 4-Month Low of 1.68%

The annual inflation rate in Jordan slowed for the first time in four months to 1.68% in July 2025, down from June’s four-month high of 2.02%. This marked the lowest inflation rate since March, largely due to a deceleration in prices for several key categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.71% vs 2.83% in June), alcohol and tobacco (5.08% vs 12.50%), communication ( 2.31% vs 2.32%), and other goods and services (2.52% vs 2.60%). Meanwhile, inflation accelerated slightly in some categories: housing (2.41% vs 2.35%), health (0.71% vs 0.70%), education (1.84% vs 1.83%), and clothing and footwear (1.57% vs 1.56%). In addition, prices declined more sharply for both transportation (-0.90% vs -0.59%) and recreation and culture (-1.58% vs -1.11%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.10% in July, marking the first monthly decline in 10 months, following a 0.19% increase in June.
