The number of employed people in the United Kingdom climbed by 238 thousand in the three months to June 2025, following a 134 thousand increase in the previous period. This marked the largest employment gain since September 2024, mainly driven by an increase in full-time employees. Compared to the same period a year earlier, employment surged by 725 thousand, largely due to gains among both employees and the self-employed, for both full-time and part-time workers. Meanwhile, the employment rate for those aged 16 to 24 rose by 0.3 percentage points to 75.3%. The number of people holding second jobs increased to 1.321 million, accounting for 3.9% of all employed individuals.
