11 August 2025, 17:52  South Africa: Factory Output Rises More than Expected.

Manufacturing output in South Africa rose by 1.9% year-on-year in June 2025, quickening from a 0.7% increase in May and overshooting market estimates of a 1% advance. This marked the second consecutive month of industrial growth. The largest positive contributions came from the food and beverages division, which grew by 6.0% (vs -0.5% in May) and added 1.4 percentage points, and the petroleum, chemical products, rubber, and plastics division, which increased by 1.9% (vs -0.4%), contributing 0.4 percentage points. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output was flat, following a 2.2% increase in the previous month. Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production grew by 1.5% in Q2 2025 compared with the first quarter of 2025.
