The unemployment rate in Austria rose to 6.7% in July 2025 from 6.4% in the same month of the previous year. The increase was driven by a rise in the number of unemployed persons, which climbed by 15 thousand year-on-year to 290 thousand. Compared to the previous period, the number of unemployed persons increased by 1.4 thousand. By gender, the jobless rate for women stood at 6.6%, 0.3 percentage points higher than a year earlier, while the rate for men rose by 0.3 percentage points to 6.8%. Meanwhile, around 359.4 thousand people were registered as unemployed or in training in July.
