1 August 2025, 10:48 Ireland: Factory Activity Growth Eases in July.
The AIB Ireland Manufacturing PMI declined to 53.2 in July 2025 from 53.7 in the previous month, which had been the highest reading since May 2022. This marked the seventh consecutive month of expansion, albeit at a softer pace, supported by an upturn in new work for the seventh month running and a robust pace of employment growth. Export sales grew for the first time since March, albeit only marginally, due to headwinds from elevated global economic uncertainty. Greater production volumes encouraged another solid rise in purchasing activity in July. Meanwhile, suppliers’ delivery times lengthened for the third straight month amid reports of transportation delays and worsening stock availability among vendors. On prices, input cost inflation accelerated from June’s six-month low, driven by higher raw material prices. Output cost inflation, however, was unchanged and remained lower than input cost inflation. Looking ahead, business sentiment weakened to a three-month low.
