5 June 2025, 05:52 Australia: Exports Fall 2.4% in May.
Australia's goods exports dropped 2.4% month-over-month to AUD 44.08 billion in April 2025, reversing a downwardly revised 7.2% rise in March, as shipments to the US were dampened by Trump's tariffs. Non-rural goods exports shrank 2.1% to AUD 32.98 billion, due to lower sales of metal ores & minerals (-4.7%), coal, coke & briquettes (-16.1%), transport equipment (-2.0%), other manufactured goods (13.3%), and other non-rural (0.6%). Additionally, exports of non-monetary gold saw a sharp 17.6% rise to AUD 4.37 billion. By contrast, shipments of rural goods grew by 9.4% to AUD 6.70 billion, driven by increases in meat & meat preparations (29.1%), cereal grains & preparations (26.9%), and wool and sheepskin (7.9%).
