30 June 2025, 15:01 Ireland: Inflation Rises to 1.6% in June.
The EU-standard harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) in Ireland rose by 1.6% year-on-year in June 2025, up from a 1.4% increase in May, according to preliminary estimates. The acceleration in inflation was largely driven by a 4.3% annual rise in food prices, which continued to put upward pressure on consumer costs. This was partly offset by a 1.8% decline in energy prices. Meanwhile, core HICP - which excludes volatile components such as energy and unprocessed food - rose by 1.9% compared to a year earlier, slightly faster than the 1.8% increase seen in May. On a monthly basis, harmonized consumer prices grew 0.5% in June, rebounding after remaining flat in the previous month.
