26 June 2025, 15:35  South Africa: PPI Inflation Below Forecasts at 6-Month Low.

South Africa's PPI inflation cooled down to 0.1% in May 2025, from 0.5% in each of the previous two months and below market estimates for a 0.7% rise. This was the lowest reading since November 2024, largely influenced by a sharper decline in prices of coke, petroleum, chemical, rubber, and plastic products (-6.4% vs -5.5% in April), of which fuels such as petrol (-18.7%) and diesel (-15.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 0.3%, marking the first decrease since last October, after a 0.5% rise in the prior month.
