2 June 2025, 04:03 USA: US Stock Futures Edge Lower as Investors Await New Catalysts,
US stock futures dipped slightly on Monday as investors looked for fresh catalysts at the start of a new trading month. The pullback follows a strong May performance, with the S&P 500 rising 6.15% - its best monthly gain since November 2023. The Dow and the Nasdaq Composite also posted solid advances of 3.94% and 9.56%, respectively. Market: were buoyed last month by resilient US economic data and stronger-than-expected corporate earnings, even amid ongoing tariff-related headwinds. Investor sentiment was further tested by legal developments surrounding trade policy, as a federal court initially struck down President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs, only for an appeals court to temporarily reinstate them. Meanwhile, economic advisor Kevin Hassett indicated that Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping may hold trade discussions as early as this week. This comes after Trump accused China of violating terms of a recent trade agreement.
