16 June 2025, 14:23 Turkey: Current Account Deficit Widens in April.
Turkey’s current account deficit expanded to $7.86 billion in April 2025 from $4.83 billion in the same month a year ago. The goods account deficit widened to $9.89 billion from $7.70 billion in April 2024, while the primary income gap rose to $1.79 billion from $1.38 billion. At the same time, the secondary income balance swung to a $0.09 billion deficit, compared to a $0.52 billion surplus. Meanwhile, the services account surplus increased to $3.90 billion from $3.72 billion last year. Excluding gold and energy, the current account shortfall stood at $1.94 billion. For the first four months of the year, the country’s trade gap widened to $20.30 billion from $14.56 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.
