12 June 2025, 15:52  Ireland: Inflation Cools to 1.4% in May.

The EU-standard Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in Ireland rose 1.4% year-on-year in May 2025, confirming preliminary estimates and easing from 2.0% in April. This marked the lowest inflation rate in three months, mainly driven by a price decline in transport (-2.4% vs 2.1% in April), as well as slower price increases in recreation and culture (2.4% vs 4.2%) and restaurants and hotels (2.8% vs 3.3%). Conversely, this deceleration was partially offset by faster price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.0% vs 3.2%) and alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (3.0% vs 2.3%). On a monthly basis, harmonized consumer prices were flat in May, following a 0.4% increase the previous month.
