10 June 2025, 17:55  Greece: Inflation Rate Rises to 2.5%

The annual inflation rate in Greece rose to 2.5% in May 2025 from 2% in the previous month. Prices growth rose faster for most sub-indices such as hotel, cafes and restaurants (6.8% vs 6.4% in April), clothing and footwear (6.6% vs 4.6%), housing (6% vs 3.4%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 2%), communication (2% vs 1.6%), and recreation and culture (1.2% vs 0.8%). Conversely, prices recovered for miscellaneous goods and services (0.9% vs -0.4%) and household equipment (0.1% vs -0.6%), while inflation for education remained unchanged (2.6%). Meanwhile, prices for transport fell further (-2.8% vs -0.8%). On a monthly basis, the CPI grew by 0.2%, following a flat reading in the previous month.
