Total average weekly earnings in the UK which includes bonuses rose 5.3% year-on-year to GBP 720 per week in the three months to April 2025, the least in seven months, compared with 5.6% in the previous period and forecasts of 5.5%. Wage growth eased for the private sector (5.3%, the lowest since the three months to August 2024, vs 5.5%) but accelerated slightly for the public sector (5.5% vs 5.4%). Adjusted for inflation, total earnings grew by 1.5%, the least since the three months to July 2024.
