Manufacturing production in the Netherlands declined by 1% month-over-month in April 2025, following a revised 0.5% increase in March. This marked the first contraction and the steepest drop so far this year, primarily driven by decreases in the output of beverages (-6.7% vs 0% in March), clothing (-1.1% vs 3.4%), petroleum products (-6.9% vs 17.7%), and chemicals (-4.5% vs 2.1%). Additionally, notable declines were observed in the production of pharmaceuticals (-26.9% vs 16.8%), electrical equipment (-2.9% vs 4.6%), furniture (-2.8% vs 0.4%), as well as the repair and installation of machinery (-2.3% vs -1.8%). On an annual basis, manufacturing output shrank by 0.5%, reversing a 1.4% increase recorded in the previous period.
