14 March 2013, 18:43  Canada: New Housing Price Index rose 0.1% in January

The New Housing Price Index (NHPI) rose 0.1% in January, following a 0.2% increase in December, said StatCanada today.
The largest monthly price rise was reported in Charlottetown (+1.0%) and Winnipeg (+0.9%), metropolitan region of Toronto and Calgary also contributed to advance. New home prices decreased 0.1% in 4 metropolitan regions and in 7 of the 21 prices remained unchanged in January.
On a year-over-year basis, the NHPI rose 2.2% in the 12 months to January, following a 2.3% increase the previous month.
