13 February 2013, 18:51  USA: Prices paid for imported goods rose 0.6% in January, due to increase in fuel prices

The US Labor Department reported on Wednesday that prices paid for goods imported into the U.S. increased 0.6% in January, due to increase in fuel prices.
Fuel import prices rose 2.4% in January, the largest increase since September. Fuel import prices were down 5.2% from the same period in the year before.
Import prices showed a decline 1.3% over the last 12 months.
At the same time, import prices excluding fuel grew to 0.2% in January, and showed no growth compared with the same period in the prior year.
December decline in import prices was revised to 0.5% from -0.1% prior.
The price of the goods prodused in the USA and exported to other nations rose 0.3% in January.
