Canadian retail sales increased for 4 consequtive month in October, as consumers continued spending more on new cars, gasoline, alcohol and clothing.
Statistics Canada reported Thursday that sales rose to 39.45 billion Canadian dollars ($39.93 billion). Canadian retail sales increased 0.7% in October following 0.2% September, which was revised up from the originally estimated 0.1%
Excluding the auto sector, sales were up 0.5%, with the prior month's figure revised up to 0.1% from the originally reported flat showing.
