Personal income in the U.S. increased in line with economist estimates in the month of September, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Monday, with the report also showing a bigger than expected increase in personal spending. The report said personal income increased by 0.4 percent in September following a 0.1 percent increase in August. The monthly increase matched the expectations of economists. Additionally, the Commerce Department said personal spending rose by 0.8 percent in September after climbing by 0.5 percent in August. Economists had expected spending to increase by about 0.6 percent.
