11 October 2012, 17:39  USA: August, Trade deficit widened as slower global growth reduced demand for American goods

The U.S. trade deficit widened in August as slower global growth reduced demand for American exports. The deficit grew 4.1%, up to 44.2 billion USD in August vs 42.5 billion USD in July, according to the Commerce Department. Exports decreased to the lowest level since February.
The problems in EU, China and slower growth in emerging markets affected the demand for American products, which had been a source of strength for U.S. manufacturers earlier this year.
