European shares turned positive in afternoon trade on Tuesday, tracking gains on Wall Street, with drugmakers and food producers among the top risers. By 1450 GMT, the pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 index rose 0.4 percent to 1,064.15 points, recouping some losses from earlier in the session when the index fell to a week-low of of 1,050.34. Pharmaceutical firms AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline , Sanofi-Aventis and Novartis were up 0.9 to 1.6 percent. Food producers were also higher, led by a 3.5 percent gain in Cadbury. The company's board earlier bowed to an improved 11.9 billion pounds ($19.55 billion) offer from Kraft Foods .
