Total construction orders received by Japan's 50 leading domestic contractors rose 7.0% on year to Y1.318 trillion in February, increasing for the second straight month, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Friday. Construction orders rose 33.9% in January after a 5.6% fall in December. Orders from the private sector rose 2.8% to Y713.2 billion, while orders from the public sector jumped 34.3% to Y231.0 billion. Overseas construction orders fell 26.4% to Y39.1 billion, the ministry said.
