5 January 2007, 11:16  French Dec consumer confidence indicator eases to -26 from -25 in Nov

A composite indicator of French consumer confidence eased to -26 in December from -25 in November, according to a monthly survey carried out by statistics office Insee. The slight decline was in line with expectations of economists polled by AFX News. The indicator represents the balance in percentage points between consumers having experienced, or expecting, a rise in their living standard and those seeing a decline. The indicator on consumers' past personal financial situation edged up to -19 in December from -20 in November, while the outlook for personal finances was unchanged at -5. Past French standard of living declined to -59 in December from -57 in November, and the standard of living outlook dropped to -32 from -28. The Insee indicator showing the inclination to buy consumer goods fell to -17 in December from -15 in November.
