EU finance ministers formally agreed to end disciplinary measures against France now that its deficit is below the stability and growth pact's limit of 3 pct of GDP, an official said. The decision follows last night's backing by the euro group for the European Commission's proposal that the excessive deficit procedure against France to be dropped. French finance minister Thierry Breton said last night that he expects the 2006 deficit to be confirmed at 2.6 pct of GDP, below official forecasts of 2.7 pct.
