The number of condominiums sold in metropolitan Tokyo in July rose 3.6 pct from a year earlier to 7,124 units, the Real Estate Economic Institute said. In metropolitan Osaka, condominium sales last month declined 8.4 pct year-on-year to 3,271 units, the private research institute said. The average price of condominiums sold in Tokyo last month was 47.10 mln yen per unit, up 4.6 pct year-on-year, or 618,000 yen per square meter, up 4.0 pct. In metropolitan Osaka, the average price of condominiums sold was 35.27 mln yen per unit, up 9.9 pct from the previous year, or 460,000 yen per square meter, up 9.0 pct, the institute said. The Tokyo data cover sales within the capital and the surrounding prefectures of Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama. The figures do not include Ibaraki prefecture. The greater Osaka area covers the city of Osaka and the surrounding prefectures of Hyogo, Kyoto, Shiga, Nara and Wakayama.
