U.S. stocks rose on Thursday as investors snapped up shares in sectors such as the semiconductors, which are seen as undervalued following a five-week sell-off. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 36.42 points, or 0.34 percent, at 10,853.34. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 5.96 points, or 0.48 percent, at 1,236.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 18.21 points, or 0.87 percent, at 2,104.21.
