11 May 2006, 15:56  Japan MOF Watanabe: FX Stance Not Changed At All

Japanese Vice Finance Minister For International Affairs Hiroshi Watanabe said Thursday the ministry will continue to act in the currency markets in line with Group of Seven countries' stance, but he declined to say whether Tokyo will intervene. "Japan's foreign-exchange stance has not been changed at all," Watanabe told reporters. "We've been acting in line with the language in the G7 communique, and we will continue to do so." "I won't comment on whether we will intervene or not. Theoretically, it's always possible (to intervene), but it's a different matter whether we will do it."
