Belgian business confidence soared in April to its highest level since September 2000 due mainly to an upswing in manufacturing sentiment, the Belgian National Bank said. The central bank's closely watched business confidence indicator jumped to 4.3 from 0.9 in March, the highest level since 5.0 in September 2000. Manufacturing sentiment climbed to 6.4 from 0.3, and construction posted a rise to 7.0 from 3.9, while trade worsened to minus 8.2 from 0.5.
