8 February 2006, 10:35  Germany: December, Current account surplus 6.3 bln euro

Germany's current account showed a surplus of 6.3 bln eur in December compared with 8.2 bln in November and 6.5 bln in December last year, according to provisional figures from the Federal Statistics Office. German trade surplus in December totalled 9.2 bln eur, down from 13.3 bln in November and 10.8 bln in December last year, it added. For the full year 2005, the current account surplus was 90.4 bln eur from 84.5 bln in 2004 while the trade surplus totalled 160.5 bln eur, up from 156.1 bln the year earlier. German exports in December fell to 66.6 bln eur from 71.5 bln in November but rose from 59.7 bln in December last year. Imports totalled 57.4 bln eur, down from 58.2 bln in November but up from 48.9 bln in December 2004.
