10 February 2006, 12:03  French Dec trade deficit grows to 3.102 bln eurо

French provisional, seasonally-adjusted trade figures for December showed a deficit of 3.102 bln eur, compared with a deficit of 3.058 bln in November, revised from a deficit of 3.138 bln eur reported originally. This resulted in a full year deficit of 26.459 bln eur, against a 2004 deficit of 8.284 bln. Exports in December totalled 31.308 bln eur, compared with 30.340 bln the month before, revised from 30.362 bln reported originally. Imports were 34.410 bln eur, compared with 33.398 bln in November, revised from 33.500 bln reported originally. Food products showed a December surplus of 787 mln eur, against a 713 mln surplus in November. The energy balance in the month gave a deficit of 3.557 bln eur, compared with a deficit of 3.597 bln a month earlier, while the industrial balance showed a deficit of 928 mln eur, against a 943 mln deficit in November. Airbus aircraft exports totalled 25 in December, valued at 1.635 bln eur, versus 18 in November for 1.023 bln. France's trade balance with the other members of the EU was a negative 1.115 bln eur in December, against a deficit of 540 mln in November. Trade with Germany showed a deficit of 1.285 bln eur, compared with a negative 1.102 bln the month before. Trade with the rest of the euro zone showed a deficit of 1.403 bln eur, compared with a 1.150 bln eur deficit in November. Trade with Japan in December was minus 422 mln eur, against a deficit of 466 mln in November. The US gave a surplus of 114 mln eur, versus a surplus of 24 mln.
