10 January 2006, 11:46  France: November, Industrial output up 3.1 pct from October

Seasonally-adjusted French industrial output for November was up 3.1 pct following a 2.8 pct fall in October, according to data from the Insee statistics office
The increase was larger than expected, with the consensus estimate of economists polled by AFX News established at a 2.5 pct month-on-month rise
Insee said the October figure was revised from a provisional 2.5 pct decline
Manufacturing output, which excludes food and energy, was up 2.6 pct in November after a 2.4 pct fall the month before
Economists had forecast a 2.2 pct rise for this component Food output climbed 2.0 pct on the month after a 0.4 pct rise last time, while for consumer goods it increased 0.7 pct compared with a 0.9 pct fall the previous month
Automobile output jumped by 7.1 pct versus a 9.0 pct drop in the previous month, and capital goods production was up 2.9 pct against a 3.8 pct loss last time
Intermediate goods rose 2.1 pct compared with a 1.4 pct fall, while energy output was up 6.9 pct following a 4.7 pct decline the month before
