2 December 2005, 11:17 Noyer: ECB Rate Hike Not Necessarily The Start Of A Cycle
Bank of France Governor Christian Noyer said Friday that Thursday's hike in the European Central Bank's benchmark interest rate to 2.25% from 2% - the first increase in five years - was enough to limit quickening inflation.
Speaking in an interview on Europe 1 radio, Noyer said the rate hike "isn't necessarily the start of a cycle," and that the ECB is watching closely for signs of inflationary pressure.
