10 October 2005, 11:15  French Aug industrial output up 0.8 pct from July

Seasonally-adjusted French industrial output for August was up 0.8 pct from July following an 0.7 pct fall in July from June, according to data from the Insee statistics office. The consensus estimate of economists polled by AFX News was established at a 1.0 pct month-on-month rise. Insee said the July figure was revised from a provisional 0.9 pct fall. Manufacturing output, which excludes food and energy, was up 0.7 pct in August, compared with an 0.8 pct fall the month before. Food output was up 0.7 pct on the month after an 0.3 pct rise last time, while for consumer goods it increased 1.0 pct compared with an 0.7 pct fall last month. Automobile output declined 3.1 pct versus a 1.6 pct fall in the previous month, and capital goods production was up 0.5 pct against an 0.3 pct loss last time. Intermediate goods rose 1.9 pct compared with a 1.1 pct fall, while energy output was up 1.3 pct following an 0.3 pct decline the month before.
