10 October 2005, 10:48  German Aug trade surplus 11.6 bln eur vs revised surplus 14.5 bln in July

Germany's trade surplus narrowed to 11.6 bln eur in August from a revised 14.5 bln in July but was up from 11.0 bln in August last year, the Federal Statistics Office said. The July figure was revised up from 14.1 bln, which the office had given last month. The August current account was a surplus of 2.5 bln eur from a surplus of 7.6 bln in July and a surplus of 2.8 bln in August last year, it said. Total imports in August were at 51.9 bln eur compared with 50.0 bln in July and 45.0 bln in August last year. Exports totaled 63.4 bln in August from 64.5 bln in July and 55.9 bln in August last year.
