13 September 2005, 11:56  French July trade deficit 2.669 bln eur vs revised deficit 1.319 bln in June

Seasonally adjusted trade figures for July showed a provisional deficit of 2.669 bln eur compared with a deficit of 1.319 bln in June, revised from a deficit of 1.194 bln eur reported originally, according to figures from the French customs service. The trade deficit for the year to date stood at 13.442 bln eur, compared with a deficit of just 504 mln eur in the same period last year. Exports in July totaled 28.542 bln eur compared with 29.511 bln the month before, revised from 29.768 bln. Imports were 31.211 bln eur compared with 30.830 bln in June, revised from 30.962 bln reported originally. The energy balance in the month gave a deficit of 3.444 bln eur compared with a deficit of 2.666 bln a month ago, revised from 2.520 bln reported originally. The industrial balance showed a deficit of 453 mln eur, up from a 232 mln deficit last time. Food products showed a July surplus of 638 mln eur against a 619 mln surplus in June. Airbus aircraft exports totaled 16 in July valued at 1.017 bln eur versus 24 aircraft in June for 1.537 bln. France's trade balance with the other members of the EU was a negative 503 mln eur in July, against a negative 504 mln in June, while trade with Germany showed a deficit of 864 mln eur compared with a negative 1.377 bln the month before. The trade balance with the rest of the euro zone was a deficit of 1.113 bln eur compared with a 1.217 bln eur deficit in June. Trade with Japan in July was minus 418 mln eur against a deficit of 385 mln, while the US gave a surplus of 201 mln eur versus plus 319 mln.
