Productivity levels in the UK in 2004 were on a par with Germany and above Japan but lagged the US and France, the National Statistics office said. UK productivity in 2004, as measured by GDP per worker, was behind the average of all other G7 countries. The US continues to be the leader with productivity 24 pct above that of the UK. Germany's productivity performance was 3 pct below the UK but differences of a few percentage points should not be seen as significant, hence the similar ranking for both countries.
