26 August 2005, 12:57  Euro area July M3 up 7.9% vs 7.6 % in June

Euro area M3 money supply grew 7.9 pct year-on-year in July, up from a revised 7.6 pct growth rate in June, the European Central Bank said. Last month, the ECB said the growth rate for June was 7.5 pct. The three-month average of the annual growth rate of M3 over the May-July period stood at 7.6 pct, up from 7.2 pct in April-June, the ECB said. The figures exclude non-resident holdings of money market fund shares and units, money market paper and short-term debt securities. They are also adjusted for seasonal and end-of-month calendar effects. It said the annual growth rate of M1, which is the currency in circulation and overnight deposits, stood at 11.1 pct in July, up from a revised 10.9 pct in June. Loans to the private sector grew 8.2 pct year-on-year in July, up from a revised growth rate of 8.0 pct in June, the ECB said.
