Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki remained cautious about the economy ending its battle against a decade-long deflation despite data released yesterday showing that land prices in Tokyo rose for the first time in 13 years, Kyodo News reported. Land prices "seem to be nearing the end of their falls," Kyodo quoted Tanigaki as saying at a news conference. "I hope to see a move out of deflation, but I have to say we cannot foresee the situation so clearly at this point."
