5 July 2005, 18:15  French April retail sales unchanged

French retail sales were unchanged in April for the second consecutive month, according to seasonally-adjusted figures from the statistics office Insee. March sales were unchanged, as originally reported. Insee said a slight rise in sales of non-food items in April was offset by a dip in food sales. Retail sales have no been almost flat for six months, it added. Large store sales were up 2.8 pct in April. Initial estimates for May point to a seasonally-adjusted rise of 0.5 pct, Insee said.
