Leading UK shares are expected to open on a flat note after crude oil prices reached a record intra-day peak of 60.95 usd in New York, dealers said. According to IG Index, the FTSE 100 should open almost unchanged, up 4 points at 5,047. The FTSE 100 closed 35.5 points lower at 5,043.5 yesterday. Overnight on Wall Street, stocks fell as oil prices closed above 60 usd for the first time, though blue-chip losses were limited by big gains in Boeing Co and Exxon Mobil Corp. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 7.06 points, or 0.1 pct, at 10,290.78, while the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 8.07 points, or 0.4 pct. Today, investors await US June consumer confidence numbers for further clues on the state of the world's biggest economy.
