Finance minister Thierry Breton said the government lowered its forecast for GDP growth in 2005 to "about 2 pct" from 2.0-2.5 pct previously. He said that the 2 pct level has "become a ceiling rather than a floor." Financial daily La Tribune earlier reported that Breton would lower the government's forecast to 1.5-2.0 pct.
