3 May 2005, 16:11  Dollar mixed, Gold is lower in Europe

The U.S. dollar was mixed Tuesday morning against other currencies in European trading. Gold prices fell. The euro was quoted at $1.2865, up from $1.2864 late Monday. Other dollar rates compared with late rates Monday included: 105.12 Japanese yen, down from 105.32; 1.1989 Swiss francs, up from 1.1965, and 1.2548 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2602. The British pound was quoted at $1.8939, down from $1.9026. Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $429.20 at late morning, down from $435.70 on Friday, the last day of trading before the May Day holiday. In Zurich gold traded at $429.00, down from $433.20 on Monday.
