24 May 2005, 15:33  U.S. dollar is mixed. Gold prices rose in European trading

The U.S. dollar was mixed Tuesday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose. The euro was quoted at $1.2574, down from $1.2583 Monday late Monday in Europe. Other dollar rates compared with late Monday in Europe included: 107.52 Japanese yen, down from 107.63; 1.2297 Swiss francs, up from 1.2296, 1.2611 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2581. The British pound was quoted at $1.8303, up from $1.8289. Gold traded in London at $420.25 per troy ounce, up from $417.90 on Monday. In Zurich, the bid was $418.10, up from $417.50. Gold rose 80 U.S. cents in Hong Kong to close at $418.35.
