5 April 2005, 15:06  Dollar Edges Higher Against Most Other Major Currencies, Gold Rises in Europe

The U.S. dollar edged up Tuesday morning against most other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices were higher.
The euro was quoted at $1.2823, down from $1.2827 Monday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Monday included:
108.59 Japanese yen, up from 108.34;
1.2118 Swiss francs, up from 1.2112,
and 1.2228 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2208.
The British pound was quoted at $1.8749, up from $1.8724.
Gold traded in London at $423.70 bid per troy ounce, up from $423.20 on Monday.
In Zurich the bid price was $423.60, up from $422.90.
Hong Kong financial institutions, including the stock and gold markets, were closed Tuesday for a holiday.
Silver traded in London at $6.96 bid per troy ounce, up from $6.91.
