29 April 2005, 14:45  The U.S. dollar rose against most other major currencies

The U.S. dollar rose against most other major currencies in European trading Friday. Gold prices rose. The euro was quoted at $1.2961, up from $1.2911 late Thursday. Other dollar rates compared with late Thursday: --105.12 Japanese yen, down from 105.90 --1.1849 Swiss francs, down from 1.1912 --1.2483 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2500 The British pound was quoted at $1.9129, up from $1.9092. Gold traded in London at $433.20 bid per troy ounce, up from $431.90 late Thursday. In Zurich the bid price was $433.33, up from $432.70. Gold rose 80 U.S. cents in Hong Kong to close at $433.25.
