28 April 2005, 14:10  Dollar gains against the Euro

The U.S. dollar made minor gains Thursday against the euro and pound, but slipped against the yen as traders waited for the release of U.S. gross domestic product figures. The euro bought US$1.2929 in morning trading, down from US$1.2938 in New York late Wednesday. The British pound traded at US$1.9032, down from US$1.9059. The dollar slipped against the Japanese yen, climbing to 105.84 yen from 105.72 yen. Weak Japanese data helped push the dollar higher against the yen in Asian trading Thursday, while the euro was little changed against the U.S. currency. Many investors were waiting for data on U.S. first-quarter gross domestic product due later Thursday for signs of the U.S. economy's direction.
